Frequently asked questions
- How do I add friends or join a circle?
- Share your public key (npub) or use an invitation link from your circle. In the app, go to Circle Settings or use “Invite Friends” to share how others can join your circle.
- I lost my private key. Can I recover my account?
- Your private key is the only way to access your account. We don’t store it, so if it’s lost, the account cannot be recovered. We recommend saving it in a password manager when you first set up XChat.
- Where is my data stored?
- Messages are stored locally on your device (encrypted) and can be relayed through servers you choose. You can customize relay and file servers in Circle Settings to control where your data goes.
